Merritt College has one of the largest horticulture programs in Northern California. We offer a large selection of courses and programs and serve a widely diverse community. Whether your goal is finding a new career, advancing in your current one, starting your own business, or just learning to create a flower garden or make an edible one, you can find it here!

Our Program

Learn in a 7-1/2-acre “classroom” with a panoramic view of the Bay Area. The facilities include greenhouses, a lath house, floral and drafting labs, a resource library, an arboretum, a permaculture installation, and the most up-to-date horticulture equipment.

Choose from a wide variety of programs designed to prepare students for careers in landscape architecture, design and construction, parks maintenance, nursery and greenhouse management, turf management, and arboriculture.

Become employed by city, county, and regional parks, school and college districts, botanical gardens, golf courses, landscape contractors, nurseries, and more. Many graduates become self-employed in landscape design, contracting, or management.
